Chinese New Year
Well its that time of the year again...where i get in touch with my roots (supposedly) and meet up with the relatives here and there.. though there aren't that many i meet (to be honest).
So i'm like thinking, it'll be nice one year, to take a trip to China - Beijing or Shanghai and have steamed dumplings (preferably a cold night) and some China beer. That'd be swell i think. Plus some china shopping would do me good. For anyone who's watched perhaps love, or those who haven't, the scenes of winter in china are actually rather pretty. With some good friends, great conversation about absolutely nothing much, not much worries, and the whole thrill of Chinese New Year in China seems really enticing at this point. With real firecrackers going off in the distance, i think it'd be potentially the best New Year i'll ever have.
Not that Ang pows, kuey lapis, bak kwa and the like aren't appealing to me. Being a pig, i don't complain as long as there's swill to keep me occupied. (do i hear an uproar) Gambling has never been my thing, and quite seriously this new year is rather marred by the nagging at my head that screams "work!". Not quite the ideal holiday i guess. Overall though, it has been rather nice la.
One of my favourite CNY activity is the new year shopping of course, and though i've confided in many a friend that "shopping kills my soul" i can't seem to get enough of being killed. I mean its a good excuse to look at all sorts of clothes and an even better excuse to spend money. Another favourite activity is the yearly CNY movie. or movies. Be it Jackie Chan or someone else. Preferably not Jack Neo though...this year it was Fearless with Jet Li. Violent at times, it was rather gripping and i enjoyed it, being the shallow fan of kung fu shows heh.
Will be headed to Syndey early March for an Aunt's wedding. Another excuse - to travel. haha. Long time no see-d-ney. Not for long though, since its actually during term time! But no worries, i'll make the most and milk it dry by making the most of my time and prob buying stuff i can't get here. Imagine the sidewalk cafes and sandwiches and pies. Love that life.
So anyway i leave here on Chinese New Year "chu er" (second day) wishing everyone happy new ear. Which is probably essential, not many ears can stand listening to my crap for too long.
